Program Summary

Healthcare Careers helps internationally educated health professionals (IEHPs) and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) take the next steps toward meaningful employment in Canada.

Our program provides career coaching, skills training, and workplace opportunities and connections to employers while partnering with healthcare providers and community organizations. Together we are building a stronger, more inclusive healthcare workforce.

  • Paid 12-week work placements in healthcare
  • Support with credential recognition
  • Access to mentors in the healthcare sector
  • Certifications (CPR-BLS, Phlebotomy, IM injections)
  • Networking and employment fairs

Healthcare Careers is designed for internationally educated health professionals who are:

  • Permanent residents, temporary residents with an open work permit, naturalized Canadian citizens, Convention refugees/protected persons
  • Holders of an internationally obtained post-secondary degree, diploma, or certification
  • Internationally educated health professionals: skilled newcomers who have been educated, trained or worked in a role that supports the delivery of health care and health care supports outside of Canada, such as audiology, dentistry, laboratory technology, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotheraphy, respiratory therapy, psychology, social work, and more
  • English proficiency CLB 7 + or IELTS 6.0+

Technical Skills Training

Gain hands-on certifications such as CPR-BLS, Phlebotomy, and Intramuscular Injections.

Credential Recognition & Licensing Guidance

Get support navigating foreign credential recognition, licensing requirements, and study groups for key exams

Mentorship Opportunities

Learn from healthcare professionals who provide guidance and insight into Canadian practice settings.

Vocational Opportunities

Gain experience, knowledge and skills from professionals in the health care sector and other meaningful work opportunities.

Free IMG Study Groups

HMC offers free study groups to support internationally trained physicians preparing for the MCCQE1 and NAC OSCE exams. IMGs are welcome to register and join these sessions to strengthen their exam readiness.
